Overview

familytree.tw helps editors create family trees and preserve family memories such as names, relationships, photos, stories, and shared family documents.

We collect only the information needed to provide the family tree service, authenticate editors, and display content that editors choose to add.

Information We Collect

Account information: when an editor signs in with Google, we receive basic profile information such as email address, name, and Google account identifier.

Family tree content: editors may add names, family relationships, dates, photos, stories, shared documents, and related metadata.

Google Drive metadata: when an editor chooses to import a Google Drive folder, we use read-only Drive access to list files in the selected folder. We store file IDs, file names, MIME types, preview links, and thumbnail URLs so the files can be shown in the family common area.

Activity and technical data: we may record basic server logs and app activity needed for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and service operation.

How We Use Google Drive Data

Google Drive access is used only after an editor explicitly selects a Drive folder for common family photos or common family documents.

The app uses read-only access. It does not edit, delete, move, or upload files in the editor's Google Drive.

The app does not scan the user's entire Drive. It lists files only from the folder selected by the editor.

The app stores references and preview information, not private copies of Drive files. Users viewing those files still need permission through Google Drive sharing settings.

Sharing and Access

Family tree content is visible to editors and viewers who have access to the relevant family tree or viewer link.

Google Drive files remain governed by the sharing permissions set in Google Drive. If a Drive file is private, other users may not be able to view it from familytree.tw.

We do not sell personal information.

Data Retention and Deletion

Family tree content and Google Drive file references are retained until an editor deletes them or deletes the relevant family tree.

Editors can remove Google Drive items from the common area. Removing a reference from familytree.tw does not delete the original file from Google Drive.

Google API Limited Use

familytree.tw's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
